Objective 4.SE.1.1 Understand the guidelines for responsible use of technology hardware.

Activity 1

• Discuss ACS Acceptable Use Policy for Technology
• Put it in words students understand
• Have students make a poster showing they understand one or more of the rules.

Activity 2: Digital Citizenship

Activity 1:

• After the movie (and during) discuss Flaming, Netiquette, and Checking Sources.

Activity 2: Cyberbullying

• Together, watch the video on Cyberbullying from StopBullying.Gov about how students at a school treat a new student.
• Answer the questions that follow
• Review Cyberbullying Facts and how it can be prevented
• Have students complete a bullying scavenger hunt.

Objective 4.SE.1.3 Understand internet safety precautions (personal information, passwords, etc.).

Activity 1:

Activity 3: Creating Internet Safety Videos

• Students will Watch the BrainPop Jr movie on Internet Safety http://www.brainpopjr.com/artsandtechnology/technology/internetsafety/
• They will complete the Graphic Organizer while watching the movie internet_safety_4.jpg
• In groups of 3, students will use their graphic organizer to write an internet Safety Video
• Students will use Movie Maker Software and their laptops w/webcam to create their internet safety video
• Videos will be uploaded to their class blog and videos will be watched once per week during class.

Activity 4: Bullying is for the Dogs

• Students will watch the student created clay animation video, Bullying is for the Dogs
• Students will create a comic strip or poster showing an example of Cyberbullying on how students stop it from continuing.
• Resources: Read, Write, Think Comic Strip Creator or Pixie, Power Point, or Notebook Software for a poster.
